Nelson Mountain Bridge
Nelson Mountain Bridge is a 105-foot Howe truss covered bridge spanning Lake Creek in Lane County, Oregon. Built in 1925 and also known as the Lake Creek Bridge, it serves a rural road in the upper Lake Creek drainage in the Coast Range foothills west of the Willamette Valley.
The bridge takes its name from Nelson Mountain, a prominent ridge in the Coast Range visible from the surrounding valley. Its 1925 construction places it among the earlier Lane County covered bridges.
Nelson Mountain Bridge was constructed in 1925 to serve the rural communities and timber operations in the upper Lake Creek valley. The Coast Range foothills of western Lane County were home to a mix of small farms and logging operations connected by a network of covered bridge crossings.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003, the bridge is also locally known as Lake Creek Bridge, reflecting the waterway it spans.
