Overview
Short Bridge is a 105-foot Howe truss covered bridge spanning the South Santiam River near Cascadia in Linn County, Oregon. Built in 1945 and originally known as the Whiskey Butte Bridge, it is one of the later covered bridges built in Linn County.
The bridge serves a rural road through the South Santiam canyon east of Sweet Home, in an area of forested hills and the swift-flowing South Santiam River.
History & Construction
Short Bridge was constructed in 1945 and originally known as the Whiskey Butte Bridge. It served the rural communities in the South Santiam canyon east of Sweet Home.
The bridge has been maintained as part of Linn County's covered bridge preservation program and continues to serve local traffic in the South Santiam valley.
